Gubbi Gubbi Dyungungoo

WUNYA NGULUM

Welcome everyone.

On behalf of the Gubbi Gubbi people, and the Gubbi Gubbi Dyungungoo Group Incorporated we would like to welcome you to our website. We would like to acknowledge the elders past, present and future. Furthermore, we would like to welcome all Aboriginals, Torres Strait Islanders and non-Indigenous people to our traditional lands.

Gubbi Gubbi Dyungungoo (Gubbi Gubbi Territory) is a non-profit organisation that is responsible for the culture and heritage of their traditional lands.

The traditional lands of the Gubbi Gubbi people once stretched from the northern banks of the Pine River, Redcliffe, to the Gregory River north of Maryborough. The Gubbi Gubbi land also runs along the Conondale Ranges through Caboolture, Kallangur and back to the Pine River.

The area of land shown on this site is called Gubbi Gubbi Dyungungoo (Gubbi Gubbi Territory) and is located on the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay Region. We are currently preserving the land with its flora and fauna for future generations. This small stretch of land has been donated and is protected by the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003. Today, this stretch of land acts as a wildlife haven for numerous native fauna including birds, reptiles, marsupials and amphibians, insects and arachnids both fascinating and delightful in their natural environment.

Gubbi Gubbi Dyungungoo is an organisation for all people, educating the history and culture of the Gubbi Gubbi people. Aboriginal land must be preserved for future generations along with its language and culture. This website is truly worth following to help a person understand the reality that we once had a vibrant, breathing, dynamic culture here along the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay Region. It was a culture where the Gubbi Gubbi people respected and protected their natural environment including their flora and fauna.

All photos and content are provided by members of the Gubbi Gubbi Dyungungoo Group Inc.

Gubbi Gubbi Dyungungoo is managed by a committee of people who have a great respect for the flora and fauna of the Gubbi Gubbi people, as well as their language and culture. The committee works towards providing environmental awareness for the land, helping protect the endangered flora and fauna.
